今天收到DIT 都柏林理工學(xué)院 外事處主任 Dr Robert Flood 的郵件，告訴我一個(gè)振奮人心的消息。 愛爾蘭7所大學(xué)里面又有一個(gè)成員加入了-都柏林科技大學(xué)，他將成為 愛爾蘭第一所科技大學(xué)。

　　As you will know DIT formed an alliance with two other institutes of technology (Blanchardstown and Tallaght) in the greater Dublin area and submitted an application to the Minister of Education to merge and to be re-designated as a Technological University.  The formal application was submitted earlier this year and reviewed by a panel of international education experts. Following the panel’s review and recommendation, the Prime Minister, Minister of Education & Skills and Minister of Finance announced their decision on the 17th of July, 2018 to establish Technological University, Dublin making it Ireland’s first technological university.

　　Technological University, Dublin (TU Dublin) will formally be established in January, 2019 and as a result DIT, and the institutes of technology in Blanchardstown and Tallaght will cease to exist. All rights, obligations and contracts from the merging institutions will by law, transfer automatically to TU Dublin. This means that all students joining us from January, 2019 will join TU Dublin and NOT DIT, and the first graduates of TU Dublin will receive their awards in 2019.

　　The legislation to permit the establishment of Technological Universities was enacted in March this year.  It introduces a new type of Irish University that will be different but complementary to the traditional universities.  Positioned at the convergence of the arts, business, sciences and technologies, it will offer an inclusive student experience with pathways to graduation from apprenticeship to PhD level.

　　The announcement ensures an extremely busy period of transition for all in TU Dublin. For those of us in DIT it is a welcome recognition of DIT’s contribution to Ireland’s economic, social and cultural development. It builds on a tradition that extends back to our formation in 1887. It will be a new and exciting chapter in our development. Change always brings some uncertainty and the purpose of this message is (1) to inform you of this major milestone in our history but also (2) to try to provide some clarity about the impact of these changes that will take place in the coming months.

　　由都柏林理工學(xué)院（DIT），布蘭查斯鎮(zhèn)理工學(xué)院（Blanchardstown IT），塔拉理工學(xué)院（Tallaght IT）意向共同組建的都柏林理工大學(xué)聯(lián)盟（TU4Dublin）早前正式向愛爾蘭高等教育局遞交了申請(qǐng)。專家小組的審查和建議之后，總理、教育技術(shù)部長(zhǎng)和財(cái)政部長(zhǎng)宣布,2018年7月17日決定成立技術(shù)大學(xué)，都柏林理工學(xué)院(Dublin Institute of Technology, DIT)、ITTallaght和IT Blanchardstown合并，宣布成為愛爾蘭的第一所技術(shù)大學(xué)。

　　據(jù)立思辰留學(xué)360介紹，都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)將于2019年1月正式成立，因此位于Blanchardstown和Tallaght的DIT都柏林理工學(xué)院將被撤銷。這三所學(xué)校的所有權(quán)利、義務(wù)和合同將依法轉(zhuǎn)讓給都柏林理工大學(xué)(TUDublin)，這就意味著于2019年1月入學(xué)的學(xué)生都將屬于都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)，不再屬于都柏林理工學(xué)院（DIT），而且都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)將會(huì)設(shè)立首批畢業(yè)生獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金。

　　目前大學(xué)的校園已經(jīng)定在都柏林北部的都柏林理工學(xué)院格蘭戈?duì)柭�新校區(qū)（Grangegorman），該校區(qū)建設(shè)已投入2.2億歐元，預(yù)計(jì)將在2020年底全面完工。據(jù)悉, 在愛爾蘭創(chuàng)建一所技術(shù)型大學(xué)的想法早在2004年就已經(jīng)寫入當(dāng)時(shí)的教育報(bào)告中了。而三所理工學(xué)院用了7年的時(shí)間才使得這一想法最終得以實(shí)現(xiàn)。愛爾蘭高等教育局將邀請(qǐng)一個(gè)獨(dú)立的國(guó)際小組來到都柏林參與申請(qǐng)的評(píng)估，愛爾蘭高等教育局將根據(jù)其報(bào)告，向教育部長(zhǎng)提出建議，并在年底前做出最終決定。都柏林理工學(xué)院的校長(zhǎng)布賴恩·諾頓（Brian Norton）表示，一所技術(shù)性大學(xué)可以將理論和實(shí)踐方法結(jié)合起來，無論學(xué)生處于課程的哪一個(gè)階段中，學(xué)校都可以為期提供足夠的支持，為學(xué)生之后的就業(yè)提供保障。

　　今年3月，都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)的建立獲得了立法的批準(zhǔn)。這是一所新型的愛爾蘭大學(xué)，它將與傳統(tǒng)大學(xué)有所不同，它將藝術(shù)、商業(yè)、科學(xué)和技術(shù)等各學(xué)科之間融合，為學(xué)生提供從學(xué)徒階段到博士階段的全面體驗(yàn)與發(fā)展。

　　都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)的理念是建立以行業(yè)為中心的研究機(jī)構(gòu)，以吸引國(guó)際留學(xué)生，并在當(dāng)?shù)睾蛧?guó)家層面發(fā)揮出愛爾蘭教育的更大影響力。

　　雖然這三所大學(xué)各有所長(zhǎng)，但它們也在商業(yè)、法律、藝術(shù)和人文、Stem(科學(xué)、技術(shù)、工程和數(shù)學(xué))、ICT、健康和福利等領(lǐng)域通過共享課程以其各所長(zhǎng)彌補(bǔ)各所短。

　　最近，高等教育的國(guó)務(wù)部長(zhǎng)瑪麗·米切爾·奧康納(MaryMitchell O ‘Connor)通過了為加快建設(shè)都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)的相關(guān)立法。她表示“都柏林理工大學(xué) (TU Dublin)的創(chuàng)建為該地區(qū)的又好又快發(fā)展提供了機(jī)遇，也為個(gè)人、企業(yè)和社區(qū)的進(jìn)一步發(fā)展提供了機(jī)會(huì)”。
